Q1: You are a high school teacher. A student of yours has just graduated with excellent marks from high school. This person wants to find work.
Write an email to this student in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things
– Explain how you feel about her high school grades
– Explain why a college education is good
– Explain why going to work instead of college is unwise
Hello Sandra,
I am so happy to see your result. I was so proud that you were my student. Every teacher of our school congratulated me when they get the information about your excellent scores.
I am writing this letter to help you understand the importance of college education for you. Right now you have just achieved a high school degree. You will understand the corporate culture when you will enter the college. This experience of college is extremely important for you. You will get a chance to interact with different culture people. The college life prepares you for the real world competition.
I believe that going for work would be unwise for you at the moment because in school, students are always protected and guided by the teachers. If you will go to work soon after school, you will not be able to survive. You may lose your confidence. Also, it’s difficult to get promotion in future with just a high school degree. Think about your long-term goals and not just about short-term job.
Hope you will understand that higher education is the right choice for you.
Thanks,
Paula
Q2: Park use Survey
Your community centre is surveying your opinion on a new event happening every Saturday in the park near your home. There are two events being considered. One suggestion is the vegetable and fruit market. The other suggestion is a second-hand furniture and appliance market.
Choose an option that you prefer. Why do you prefer your choice? Explain the reasons for your choice. Write about 150-200 words
Option A: I would like to have a vegetable and fruit market every Saturday in the park.
Option B: I would like to have a second hand furniture and appliance market every Saturday in the park
I would like to opine in favor of option A. Even though the other option B is also alluring but option A. would easily outweigh the advantages.
To initiate my argument, everyone needs fruits and vegetables in their daily life. It is a hassle to go long distance and carry these heavy items home. Having a market just near the home would be convenient for everyone.
To continue with my logic, there will be continuous sale of everyday things. They will purchase the fruits and vegetables for one week and store it in the fridge.
I would like to quote an example to elucidate my point further. This will save time and energy of the students and families who live without a car and go to buy these items in small quantities everyday.
Conversely, second hand furniture and electronic items are not needed by everyone. Also, this will be one time purchase. People will not go again and again to the market. Moreover, the products may get damaged in the bad weather as park does not have a shed.
Considering the reasons outlined above, I firmly believe that option A is more preferable than option B. I appreciate this chance provided to me to voice my opinion.
