IELTS General Writing samples for Task 1 & 2 for 7 bands

Task 1 –

You have recently been offered a job in another city where your friend lives. Write a letter to your friend informing them about your move. In your letter you should say :
•Inform them about the job offer and your interest in it
•Mention the kind of accommodation you are looking for
•Ask for their help or advice in finding a suitable place to live

Dear Zoya,
How are you? I hope you are doing great. I am also in good spirits. I am penning down this missive to let you know that I am moving to your city. I have been offered a lucrative and fantastic job opportunity at Heavens Agricultural Company as a Field Manager; I could not pass it up, as you know I have a keen interest in it.

Of course, I am looking for a place that should be relatively closer to the agricultural zone, because you know my job would only require work or surveys in the fields. Apart from that, obviously, the ambience would be peaceful and positive in that area. I would love a small and cozy house with a bit of a yard. The place must have adequate space to park my car.
Since you have lived there for a while, I was hoping you could lend me some useful advice on finding a quiet place with all the amenities. Do you know any good neighborhoods or reliable rental websites? Any tips or leads would be greatly appreciated. I am really excited about this move that would give me a the chance to live closer to you.
Thank you for your precious time. I am looking forward to hearing from you with an optimistic response.
Yours lovingly,

Zia

Task 2 –

In recent years, e-books have become increasingly popular, often replacing traditional paper books. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this development. Give your opinion.

It is irrefutable fact that technology has become ubiquitous across the world and E-books are a prime example of this advancement. As a result, the majority of individuals now prefer reading E-books over traditional paper books. This essay will shed light on both the merits and demerits of this development in the forthcoming paragraphs.
One of the most significant advantages of choosing digital books is their unparalleled portability. People can carry an entire library within a single device. This makes them incredibly convenient for travel or commute, as there is no need to carry heavy physical books. Another notable benefit is that E-books are often considered more environmentally friendly than the printed books. They reduce the demand for paper and printing, thereby contributing to forest conservation.
However, like every rose has a thorn, this usage of E books also comes with certain drawbacks. One of the primary disadvantages is the negative impact digital books can have on eyesight. Prolonged screen time may lead to eye strain, discomfort, and fatigue. Another notable drawback is that e-books rely heavily on technology. Readers require devices such as tablets or smartphones to access them, which may run out of battery or encounter technical malfunctions at most crucial times—potentially leaving the reader without access to their books. To quote a similar example, last week I was left frustrated when I was reading a climax scene from my favorite book and my table suddenly shut down due to low battery.
In conclusion, while the use of digital books offers numerous advantages—such as the portability of an entire library in one device and benefits to the environment—the disadvantages, including potential health issues and technological dependency, should not be overlooked. Hence use of E books and traditional books have both pros and cons according to the user. Balancing both aspects is essential to ensure a safe and enjoyable reading experience.
