A builder wants to buy a popular park in your city. He wants to build two apartment buildings for seniors on the land. You use the park a lot, and your children like the playground and basketball court. The city is asking residents to respond to an opinion survey.
Dear Sir,
I am writing in response to your survey regarding the survival of the Park on Steveston Street and I strongly believe that the Park should stay instead of being turned into another concrete structure.
The park is one of the few urban greenspaces in the vicinity and is used by people of all ages alike. It is regularly used by children of the locality, including my own, and the playground provides them with an opportunity to connect with each other in an outdoor space closer to their homes. The basketball court is used by youngsters to work off their extra energy as well as commit themselves to some regular exercise.
Furthermore, it provides a respite to the residents in the neighborhood from mundane routines and confined urban structures as well since it is a perfect place to connect with others in the community amongst natural environment and lush green surroundings. Not to miss, its flora and fauna also help reduce the impact of daily air pollution.
So, it is evident that the Park serves the whole community by spreading happiness and promoting health and social connections. The builder can find ample open spaces to build the housing apartments on, but we will not find another park in our surroundings to cater to our needs.
Thus, I vehemently support the existence of the Park.
