Task 1 :
You have borrowed money from your bank. You agreed to repay a fixed amount every month. However, it will be difficult to pay any money back this month.
Write an email to the bank in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:
State the amount of money you borrowed and the repayment schedule.
Explain why you borrowed the money.
Explain the reason you cannot pay any money this month and why you will be able to pay next month.
Dear Sir,
I am Rieta Wells, holder of Current Account No. 12345 at your Bank and I availed a loan facility in January 2022. It amounts to $1,20,000 for a 5-year duration @ 8.75% interest per-annum. The monthly instalment, payable by me ,is $6500.
I had borrowed the amount for business purposes. My work consists of selling local handicraft items to overseas buyers. On supply of the goods at the buyers’ port-of-entry, money is released from their escrow account.
However, this month I am unable to pay as the ship carrying my goods has got stuck at the Suez Canal due to a traffic hazard. This has delayed the release of money from the buyers’ accounts. Though the problem will be sorted soon, it
will take some time before the products reach the foreign shores and payment is released to me.
Hence, I will be able to pay this month’s instalment next month. This is an unprecedented situation and I hope you will support me as I have always repaid all my dues timely.
You may contact me on my no. 321654490 in case any further information. I look forward to your early response on the matter.
Regards,
Rieta Wells
Task 2 –
Your children’s school provides free school lunches. Usually the lunch is a hamburger, hotdog, or pizza. The children really enjoy the lunches. Some parents want to change the lunches so that the children eat salad or vegetables every day. The school asked you to respond to an opinion survey.
Choose the option that you prefer. Why do you prefer your choice? Explain the reasons for your choice. Write about 150-200 words.
Option A: I would prefer the lunches stayed the same.
Option B: I would prefer they changed the lunches.
Though the free lunch provided by the school includes the kids’ favourite foods, I believe that it should make healthier options like greens and veggies a part of the lunch menu. My opinion stems from two main reasons.
At the outset, junk food is addictive. It is tasty as it is high on sugar and salt and makes eating a pleasure. With time it takes larger quantities of this food to satiate the hunger. With little or no nutrients and a high caloric value, over time it plays havoc with the health. The green- leafy vegetables do not stimulate the taste buds much and if the children don’t get into the habit of eating salads and vegetables early in life, they will never acquire the taste for them. This will lead to obesity and health issues for the rest of their lives.
Additionally, fresh produce provides more energy and children are required to do multiple tasks. The veggies in their diet will act as a catalyst for their energy levels and also increase concentration levels. On the contrary, junk food will make them feel heavy and lethargic and non-attentive in school.
Thus, we should act now and inculcate healthy eating habits in them by choosing option B. Afterall, a stitch in time saves nine.
